How did Phillip Weiss know it was the most "gloried-in ritual"....what does that mean anyway?

Men that are not powerful...average Joes like me urinate off the trail or behind a tree when we need to. My daughter has squatted and peeded in the woods...and neither of us felt powerful or as if we were asserting demarking out space. I've no love for the congregants of this conservative gathering but peeing holding a beer is the least of my worries.
